Brooklyn Tweed Kids – Berenice
Brooklyn Tweed has done it again – a new pattern collection is out, this time it’s stuff for kids. It’s a cute one for sure with classic designs, clean lines, slightly new interpretations on traditional styles. I like it a lot! But as for all BT pattern collections it probably all depends on the yarn. What takes on an ethereal quality in Brooklyn Tweed Loft will probably only come out average looking in a substitute yarn. Why not just go and buy the original yarn, you ask? Ah well, spending 14.50 USD + shipping on a single 50 grams skein of yarn seems like more money than I have any right to spend. Maybe one of these days *sigh*
The above pictured girl sweater – Berenice – is by far my favorite design and it is way up in the queue right now. And if the fact that it carries my daughters name – albeit the French version of it – would not have won me over the overall appeal of the garment surely would. I have got to knit this. Now there’s only the question of yarn. Would love to do it in a nice Shetland type of yarn but I’m hesitant because the girl might find it too itchy. I’ve got still some colors of the discontinued Geilsk 2-ply Bomuld of Uld here. This might be an option that even comes close to the look and feel of the original.
