Colors of Summer

Lavender in front of our house

Lavender in front of our house

While the heat wave during the Pentecost holidays has come and gone I’m still enjoying the sunny days and the colors of summer in my front yard and garden. There’s strawberries, buttercups, periwinkle and lavender adding dashes of color everywhere. It’s lovely.

On the knitting (and crochet) front I seem to be getting my groove back, so to speak. The little terror is still his terrorizing, charming, cute self but with the sun out all the kids from the neighborhood are gathering on the playground and the 17 months old is right in the midst of things. He can’t get out fast enough making a nuisance of himself with a shoe in one hand and the other one trying to reach the door handle until someone lets him out. Which gives me some respite and I can always take my knitting with me. In the meantime here’s two new additions to the stash.

BC Garn Liseta

BC Garn Liseta

I love linen and I think it is a much under-used component of hand knitting yarn. As soon as I find a yarn with linen in it I usually jump and get some skeins. In this case my two lovely knitting buddies from Yarn over Berlin posted this amazing new yarn in their Facebook Feed: Liseta from BC Garn. It’s not only linen but also silk. I immediately searched for a suitable project.

I stumbled on the very pretty Bernadette Lace Blouse pattern and thought it would go lovely with the linen yarn. Since my gauge is different from the pattern I decided against buying the pattern, calculated the stitches according to my swatch and am making it up as I go. Knits up nicely so far, this yarn.

Madelinetosh Prairie, colorway 'Lepidoptra'

Also thanks to Yarn over Berlin my first ever Madelinetosh yarn joined my stash. It’s the very pretty and soft Prairie quality in stunning color way ‚Lepidoptra‘. I’ve got no clue what to knit with this one but there are a few options that spring to mind. Maybe Rock Island? Or Echo Flower? Or something based on Evelyn A. Clark’s triangles? Ah, I love the possibilities inherent in an untouched skein of yarn.
