Six weeks of school holidays have gone by insanely fast. And starting tomorrow I will already have a third grader in the house. Today is supposed to be the last really hot day of this summer and I’m enjoying my time outside in the garden, lounging around on the newly finished quilt, some good coffee at hand and knitting away on this cute hat pattern from Melanie Berg (Qwist Hat).
Although I’ve got to admit I’ve messed up the pattern and improvised so it’s now not quite the same as written in the instructions. The German pattern contained a small error that led me to believe the slipped stitch pattern was worked over 4 stitches and over 3. I kinda went with it, adjusted two other lines in the pattern to fit my logic and it worked out nicely. Looking at the English pattern version I realized my error. I pondered ripping out the 12 pattern rounds but found the slipped stitch pattern nice enough to just continue like this. Depending on how this one turns out I might do another one that will actually match the instructions.
After finishing this hat I’m planning to join Joji’s Fall 2015 Knitalong. I’m hoping to knit myself a warm, cozy Seacoast sweater in Drops Alaska yarn.
