Fair Isle Sweater :: Slowly But Steadily ::

Auch wenn es nur langsam voran geht, so geht es doch stetig voran mit dem Fair Isle Übungsstück. Immerhin bin ich nun schon am zweiten Ärmel angekommen.

It’s slow going but at least the Fair Isle practicing object is progressing steadily. The second steek is cut and therefore the second sleeve is in the making.

Die Steeks wurden mit zitternden Fingern aufgeschnitten und so weit sieht alles okay aus. Ich habe aus lauter Angst die Steeks vor dem Schneiden mit Kreuzstichen gesichert und war am Ende sehr froh drum. Ich habe A gelernt, dass Sockengarn sehr glatt ist und die Maschen sich leicht auflösen und B 8 oder 9 Steekmaschen sind nicht unbedingt ausreichend. Ich lerne also jede Menge übers Fair Isle stricken an diesem Mini-Pullover. Mittlerweile bin ich auch guter Dinge, dass der Pullover unserer Maus doch noch ein klein wenig passen wird.

Cutting the steeks scared me to death but after taking a deep breath I actually made it. Yay! But I guess it was a good thing that I was paranoid enough (and did I mention shit scared?) and used cross stitch to overcast the steeks before cutting. Because I learned A.) sock yarn is VERY smooth and the cut stitches had a tendency to come undone and B.) 8 or 9 steek stitches might not be quite enough to cut comfortably. Well, practice makes perfect, isn’t that what they say. And meanwhile I’m nearly convinced that the finished sweater will propably fit our little ray of sunshine at least for a couple of days.
